Toriumi started his career in mobile & entertainment business as a member of the new business development team in Namco (Japan’s leading game company). He launched Namco’s new service on the emerging mobile internet platform (“i-mode”) in 1999. It was the first mobile service ever by a game maker in Japan.
After working in a mobile content venture, Toriumi joined to the Walt Disney Internet Group in 2000. He was responsible for the success of various mobile services and innovative projects, and made Disney one of the leading mobile content company in Japan. Many content companies and brand holders emulated Disney’s model on mobile platforms. Toriumi also contributed to Disney group’s CRM strategy in Japan by utilizing the big database acquired through mobile business. In 2004, he became the first Japanese vice president in the department.
He had led all mobile business of Disney till 2011, when he started his own company XTANT Inc.
